Deer Island, Philpott Lake

Description: This is a casual mountain lake paddle and camping trip less than an hour and a half from Greensboro. Paddle in on Friday and set up camp before dark on Deer Island. After breakfast on Saturday, you can go paddling with the group, stay at camp or fish. (Fishing licenses required). We will plan on a group meal Saturday night (TBD). Sunday we’ll break camp and for those that wish to can do an out and back hike or paddle. Reservations on Deer Island are made online at www.recreation.gov, click on Camping & Lodging the click in search bar type in Deer Island. Click on Deer Island Philpot Lake, enter dates August 12 & 13 add to cart, create account and make reservation. Reservations are not sites specific and are first come first serve. I am limiting the group to six sites and with any luck we will get adjoining sites. Each site is waterfront and has a tend pad, table, access to pit toilet and showers are just a short paddle away on the mainland all for $20.00 a night. What a bargain. Unfortunately, most sites only have room for one tent. Those that interested please email me by August 5th.
