Description: Please join me on the Mahogany Rock/Upper Scott Ridge hike off the Blue Ridge Parkway. This is the David Memory hike that so many of us love! It’s lush and picturesque in the summer with ferns, wildflowers, rhododendron and mountain laurel. Now that it’s fall, we’ll be treated with cooler temperatures and vibrant fall colors. This nearly 8 mile,1500-foot lollipop loop is high above Stone Mountain Park. Our route wil include the Sparta Trail, part of the Mountains-to-Sea Trail in the Stone Mountain backcountry, and the upper portion of the Scott Ridge hiking path. Bring poles for a couple of stream crossings and to help with the relatively short but steep ascent. Email me for the meeting time and carpooling place.8 miles, 1500 elev [R-25]
