Description: The drive from the Greensboro area to the trailhead near Roanoke is about 2 hours 15 minutes. The hike will start at the parking lot for the Dragon’s Tooth off Highway 311 at Catawba, Virginia. We will hike up to the Dragon’s Tooth, enjoy the excellent views, and then continue on the Appalachian Trail to the parking lot for McAfee’s Knob on Highway 311. A brief shuttle will return to the cars at the Dragon’s Tooth parking lot. Distance 10 miles, elevation gain 2,984 feet, descent 2,772 feet. R 40.
