Description: Please join me at the Haw River State Park for an easy and comfortable Sunday hike through a mostly wooded area of pine and mixed hardwood trees. The address is 6068 N Church Street in Greensboro. Directions: Traveling north on Church Street, you will cross HWY 150 at a traffic light. Drive approximately 1.3 miles and then turn right onto Iron Ore Belt Access Road. There is an ample parking lot with restroom facilities located at the end of this road. We will gather at the parking lot for introductions and begin hiking using a .3 mile connector trail designated with white circle blazes. This short trail will end at the first power line we come to. Signs will direct us to The Great Blue Heron Loop trail. We’ll hike this well-groomed 3.2 mile loop trail in a clockwise direction following orange square blazes and return to the parking lot via the same .3 mile connector trail. There will be no major climbs or descents. Count on this being a comfortable hike taking approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes with time to enjoy the surroundings. If anyone is interested, the option to repeat the loop maybe available. Call or email me by 5:00 PM Saturday to find out the meet up time, to let me know you are coming or if you have questions.
