Mount Rogers National Recreation Area Back Packing Trip

Description: The plan is for a three-day, two-night backpacking trip in the Mount Rogers NRA. The 17.5-mile loop hike will start at the AT parking lot on VA 603 (Fairwood Road) and go to Pine Mountain, Rhodendron Gap, Massie Gap, Stone Mountain, the Scales, and places in between. The first night will be spent at a campsite near Rhodendron Gap. The second night will be at a campsite either near the Wise Shelter or on Stone Mountain. The concluding hike will be back along the AT to the parking lot on VA 603. [R-25 in good weather]. Please register or notify Vance Barron no later than Monday, January 23, if you would like to go. Be prepared for wintry weather, which would increase the R-rating.
