Description: Hooray! Spring is finally here. Let’s celebrate with a hike on the Boone Fork Trail at Price Park, Mile Post 296.4 on the Blue Ridge Parkway. This is one of my favorite hikes and a club favorite in the spring, summer, and fall. Boone Fork Trail is a beautiful 5-mile loop trail with a few uphills and an elevation gain of approximately 500 feet. But it’s not a walk in the park! We will encounter numerous stream crossings, many roots and rocks, and muddy paths. There will be also be opportunities to climb a few ladders. For experienced hikers, this is considered to be an easy-to-moderate trail. Plan on this being a 3 hour hike. Wear appropriate footwear and bring poles for stream crossings. Make sure you pack water and a couple of snacks. We will have a food stop mid-way beside Boone Fork creek. After the hike, there will be an option to stop for ice cream at Kilwin’s in Blowing Rock. Call or email for details about the meet up time and carpooling.
