Description: Many club members enjoy this hike with its wide, gently graded carriage trails. Half of the hike travels from the Cone Manor up to the Flat Top Fire Tower and back down to the Cone Manor where we will have a lunch break by the horse stables. The second half of the hike circles Bass Lake down along the carriage trails and back up to the Cone Manor. Each section is approximately five miles in length. If you do not want to do all ten miles, you can visit the Manor House and Craft Center and go into nearby Blowing Rock. For those who want to do the entire hike, there will still be an opportunity for a brief tour of the Manor House and visit to the Craft Center after the hike. An optional trip to Kilwin’s for ice cream at the nearby Blowing Rock Tanger Outlets will be available.
