Description: This hike has lovely views with over half going across open fields and hills at the top of Rocky Knob Park along the Blue Ridge Parkway. We start at the Rocky Knob Campground with a moderate climb up to the former AT shelter to warm us up. The trail continues across the top of Rock Castle Gorge with great views but a narrow path. Poles can be useful here. We continue and eventually cross over the Parkway to loop back along the wooded Black Ridge Trail. Please email for meeting times and places. Additionally, some may want to take advantage of the Mabry Mill restaurant either before or after the hike as they are only open until November 5 for this year. *7.5 miles. [R-26]
