Description: This is the perfect winter hike, within an hour from the Triad, even when snow, ice, or chilly temperatures may deter us from leaving our cozy cocoons. It offers large vistas into beautifully haunting woods, a walk along a stream dotted with hopping rocks, and gentle ascents. As usual, at this time of year, I always hope that the gods will send snow our way and give us a chance to get a glimpse of a white wilderness. This is a suitable hike for almost anyone who can tackle a double-digit hike, without having to worry about steep climbs and eroded terrain, or dragging oneself back to the cars.
