Description:
Description: Come tiptoe with me among the daffodils, hopefully freshly awakened by March’s kiss down inside the canyon of the Linville Gorge. This is an iconic hike that I don’t see offered often and is best done at this fortuitous time of year when Spring comes again to the mountains and stirs life in winter’s wake. Together, we’ll start at Pinnacle and descend into the gorge via the MST. We’ll hike into the flats along the Linville Gorge trail while being serenaded by the rushing roars and gentle babbles of the Linville River. We’ll follow the Linville Gorge trail through the Daffodil Flats and follow the trail to the intersection of Pinch-In. I’d like to give my hikers the option of returning out and back the way we came, or to go up Pinch-In and return to our cars via the Kistler Memorial Hwy, making the hike a loop – we’ll discuss at the intersection. If the gods are good, this will be a picturesque hike which will serve as the perfect prelude to all your Spring adventures. After the hike, I’ll have a trail-cap at Moondog’s in the nearby town of Morganton, NC and I would love for all to join me who can. Participation limited to 10 people in accordance with Linville Gorge Wilderness ordinances. 8.46 miles, 2021 ft elev. [R-30; feels like R-40]
