Description: Let’s enjoy a nearby hike at Hanging Rock State Park. Today we’ll hope for a beautiful morning on the Indian Creek trail, a scenic wooded, out-and-back, hike with multiple stream crossings. Bring your poles and come prepared to get your feet wet if we’ve had much rain. We’ll pass by interesting rock formations and two gorgeous waterfalls. It’s approximately 3.6 miles from the banks of the Dan River to the picnic tables near the Visitor's Center Parking Lot. We’ll have lunch at the picnic tables before returning back to the cars. This is considered to be a moderately challenging hike and will take about 3.5 hours to complete given the stream crossings, the steps up to and down from the picnic area, and +/- 1000 feet elevation gain. The trail head should be easy to find. Take NC 8/89 through Danbury past the sign for Hanging Rock State Park and just before the Dan River Bridge. Turn left on Flinchum Road. We’ll meet at the parking lot at the end of Flinchum Road just beyond the Dan River Company Kayak & Canoe Rental and Green Heron Ale House. Please email me by Friday afternoon if Interested. (R-18)
