Description: In a few short days it will be summer! Let’s enjoy one of my favorite hikes on the Boone Fork Trail at Price Park off the Blue Ridge Parkway. This super scenic 5 mile loop trail is a club favorite in the spring, summer and fall. Although approximately 5.5 miles in length, plan on this being at least a 3 hour hike. We will cross an open grassy meadow and enjoy wildflowers and colorful butterflies, encounter numerous stream crossings, rocks and roots of various sizes, dark forests with rhododendron tunnels, as well as the opportunity to climb bridges, stairs, and a couple of ladders. This is considered to be an easy-to-moderate trail for experienced hikers. Plan on bringing your trekking poles, wearing appropriate foot wear, and watching where you step. Much of the trail is beside and across a mostly gentle flowing stream. Our feet will get wet and possibly muddy. We'll enjoy a food stop sitting on large boulders looking across and down the beautiful Boone Fork Creek. After the hike, there will be an option to stop for ice cream in Blowing Rock. Call or email me for details about the meet-up time and carpooling. (R-11)
