Montreat to Pinnacle Backpack

Description: The plan is for a two-day, overnight backpacking trip from Montreat to Pinnacle. The hike will start at the Graybeard Trail parking lot in Montreat and go to the campsite at the base of Pinnacle near the Blue Ridge Parkway. The first day’s hike is 6.7 miles with a steady elevation gain of 3,364 feet (no steep grades). [R-40] The next day, we will climb Pinnacle to witness the sunrise. The hike back to the trailhead is 6.7 miles with an elevation drop of 3,364 feet (the reverse of the first day’s hike).
