Description: The hunters are gone, the annoying gnats have not yet been hatched, and the snakes are just waking up from their winter slumber. And the woods are prepping up for their spring glory. Even though, this range of mountains peaks at less than 1,200 feet, it offers hikers a chance to exercise their calves and lungs with a few steep ascents and rocky descents in between long stretches of gentle strolling. Those of you who have joined me on many hikes there in winter and early spring share my love of the uninterrupted vistas of denuded trees stretching in every direction, the small stream crossings along groves of rhododendrons and mountain laurels, and the occasional rock outcropping intruding among the large undulating woods. This hike is suitable for anyone who can tackle a double-digit hike, without having to worry about unending climbs and eroded terrain. PLEASE REGISTER ONLINE NO LATER THAN 12:00 PM ON FRIDAY 21.
