MST: Alligator -Brinegar Cabin hike cancelled

Description: Join me on a hike across my favorite park as the meadows are in full bloom and the vistas are beautiful. I plan to hike from the Alligator Back overlook to Brinegar Cabin as an out and back hike (Blue Ridge Parkway mp 342.5 to mp238.5). Please note: there is ongoing construction along the Blue Ridge Parkway and you can only access doughton park by driving up North Carolina 18 from Wilkesboro to the parkway. The parkway is closed north of Brinegar Cabin and closed south of Highway 18 to Highway 16.  If there is time and interest, we can also include Wildcat Rocks Overlook and check out The Bluffs Restaurant for refreshments post hikePlease register by noon Friday May 9. 10 miles, est 1600ft [R-26]
I have tried in being to find out more about opening on the Blue Ridge Parkway at Doughton Park. There are lots of work vehicles and a porta potty in the parking lot so I don’t have a lot of hope. Also, I have a family get together that I need to attend in Indiana on May 10 so I cannot lead the hike even if I move it.
