Description: Join me for slower paced, 5-mile hike on the Blue Ridge Parkway split between Cumberland Knob and the Blue Ridge Music Center. The Gully Creek Trail at Cumberland Knob is a lovely 2.5 miles with a waterfall, and is rated strenuous mostly due to its 820 ft. elevation gain. The second more moderate hike is a short drive north on the Parkway into Virginia. Fisher Peak Trail at the Blue Ridge Music Center (milepost 213) features forests, meadows, and wetlands all packed in 2.5 miles! Restrooms are available at both locations. The Blue Ridge Music Center also has a small gift shop and museum with exhibits on the history of Appalachian Music, as well as free concerts by local musicians. If interested, please sign up by 5 PM Friday, September 5th. Bring lunch or snacks and plenty of water. Poles would be helpful for Gully Creek. Start time: 9:30 AM. Carpooling possible from Rural Hall McDonald's off Hwy 52N (1040 Bethania Dr. Rural Hall 27045). Or, meet at Cumberland Knob Recreation Area (milepost 217.5) [R-16] Contact Carol Ann Krebs for further information.
