Description: Come join me for an invigorating 10 mile winter hike in beautiful Stone Mountain State Park. This 10 mile, 2100' lollipop route will include the MST Connector trail, Cedar Rock trail, and Wolf Rock trail. After a fairly gentle 2-mile ascent from the backpacker's parking lot to the Stone Mountain Loop, we'll hike another mile or so through a wooded area and take advantage of the restrooms at the Lower Parking lot. From there, we'll begin the very steep climb up steps to the northwest end of the giant monadnock and enjoy our first food stop with impressive views from the Stone Mountain Summit. Continuing we'll hike by the waterfalls and a few more climbs to Wolf Rock and take our second food stop with more amazing views. Leaving Wolf Rock, we'll return to the parking lot - hiking back down the 2-mile section of the MST connector. Bring poles if you use them, a good attitude, and remember to bring water and snacks.
