Description: As many of you know, I am partial to rhododendron groves, rock hopping, and stream crossings (among other things). As such, this out-and-back hike qualifies in my book. It takes us along a beautiful meandering creek, lined with rhododendrons groves, which we cross multiple times. Near the top the creek flows away from the trail and seems to disappear into the ground as an old cabin comes into sight in a clearing, inviting hikers to rest on its porch while getting water out of their boots. So, I invite you to join me for a hike on this very lightly traveled trail. If the gods deem us good and meritorious PHOC citizens, they will give us a beautiful sunny and warm winter-dying day. But if they decide to bestow rain, or even late season snow, we will graciously smile through it and even enjoy it. At this time of year, the creek may be swollen with the rains of winter; I therefore strongly encourage you to bring your poles. BUYER BEWARE: This hike is in the upper range of moderate and therefore suitable for experienced hikers who can navigate uneven, sometimes overgrown, and often muddy and flooded terrain, as well as rocky stream crossings. PLEASE REGISTER ONLINE BY THE SPECIFIED DEADLINE. I WILL PROMPTLY GET BACK TO YOU WITH MEETING PLACE AND TIME OPTIONS.
