Description: Let's try a breakfast and hike combination in Hillsborough, NC. Antonia's, a good restaurant for both lunch and dinner options, is now offering breakfast from 7-11 am Tuesday-Friday. So, let's meet there at 9:30 am, and follow up breakfast with a leisurely and scenic hike at the Confluence Natural Area about 15 minutes northwest of Hillsborough. The confluence area, comprising 5 miles of trails, is a nature preserve in Orange County and is located where the east and west forks of the Eno River meet. It is notable for its Spring wildflowers, and in my opinion, has some of the best displays in the area. In late March, there is a particularly stunning display of bloodroots which I discovered last year while hiking there and in mid-April wild geranium, mayapple, and jack-in-the-pulpits are notable for their displays. I'm hoping to catch the Bloodroot bloom again this year (fingers crossed). The Two Forks trail is predominantly streamside and has a few minor inclines so good footwear is advised. Please sign up by 12 pm the day before the hike so I can finalize numbers and call the restaurant to make a reservation. 3-4 miles depending on whether we do one or two trail loops. Elev. gain minimal. [R-6].
