Description: Don't let my description fool you: this is a very strenuous hike. You've been warned. Come tiptoe with me among the daffodils, hopefully freshly awakened by March’s kiss down inside the canyon of the Linville Gorge. This is an iconic hike that I don’t see offered often and is best done at this fortuitous time of year when Spring comes again to the mountains and stirs life in winter’s wake. Together, we’ll start at Wolf Pit West and utilize the MST where we'll hit Pinnacle for the real Daffodil Flats experience. We'll road-walk for a short distance an descend into the flats via the Unnamed Trail while being serenaded by the rushing roars and gentle babbles of the Linville River. This is a challenging hike with steep ascents and ever steeper descents. If the gods are good, this will be a picturesque hike which will serve as the perfect prelude to all your Spring adventures. After the hike, I’ll have a trail-cap at Fonta Flora Brewery, just 15 minutes down the road, and I would love for any to join me who can. Hike limited to 10 participants in accordance with LGW ordinances. Pets are allowed, but MUST be kept on leash at all times. If waitlist becomes substantial, I will arrange for a second hike starting at 9:30AM so waitlisted participants may enjoy it as well. 12.27 miles, 2398 ft elev. [R-45]
