Description: This is a 44-mile out-and-back bike ride on the New River Trail State Park in Virginia. The New River Trail winds along bluffs above the river, and passes over bridges and trestles. The ride will begin at 9:00 a.m. at Foster Falls and head north 22 miles through Draper to end in Dora Junction for a picnic lunch. The ride will return to Foster Falls, concluding before 4:00 p.m. Foster Falls is off I-77 about 104 miles (a 2-hour drive) from Greensboro and 77 miles (a 1 ½ -hour drive) from Winston-Salem. Riders will be responsible for getting their bikes to the trailhead where a small state park entrance fee is collected. An effort will be made to arrange carpools. Please, no road bikes with narrow tires. Also, experience dictates that a spare tube or two are advisable for such a long ride on this trail. Register online by Tuesday afternoon before the ride if you plan to go.
Required Gear: Trail worthy bicycle, spare tubes
