Description: This is a highly strenuous hike and should only be attempted by seasoned hikers. It is not beginner friendly. Unknown registrants will be screened. Upon the rocky crags and sweeping meadows of Linville, NC come and join me for an all-day adventure at Grandfather Mountain State Park. Together we will climb up Grandfather Mountain from the Blue Ridge Parkway along the Tanawha Trail, climb the ladders up to Calloway Peak, descend the Chute and scramble our way out to McRae's Peak and back again. This adventure offers something for everyone and makes for an excellent hike that rapidly changes, so you’re never bored – and provides you with a workout that will make you use muscles in your body that you never knew you had! This will be a longer day, so come with a cleared schedule and a mind and body prepared to crest the callouses of Grandfather Mountain and touch the sky. Let’s look forward to a crisp trail cap at The Lost Province after the hike! I will message all registrants with carpool details closer to time. Please note: no pets allowed on this hike and this hike is not a good fit for anyone who has issues with heights as there are technically challenging scrambles and sections of full height exposure. 10 Miles, 3200 ft elev. gain [R-50]
