Optional Bike Trip for Hikers on Pine Mountain Loop Hike

Description: This is an optional, add-on trip for those who register for the Pine Mountain Loop hike at Mount Rogers NRA on 8 August 2026. The next day, 9 August 2026, we will ride bikes on the Virginia Creeper Trail from Damascus to Abingdon and back, a total of 34 miles, before returning home. We will camp overnight at a group site at Beartree Recreation Area, a forested campsite next to a stream with nearby flush toilets and warm showers. Group site 083 for eight people has been reserved. The cost will be no more than $15 per person and perhaps less. The sooner one registers for this trip, the better, because additional group sites may not be available as the time for the trip nears.
Required Gear: Bicycle with wide or hybrid tires (no road bikes), tent, sleeping bag, cooking gear, food, etc.
