Description: From Grassy Gap Parking at Longbottom Road this hike follows the Flat Rock Ridge trail up for 5 miles until it intersects the Bluff Mountain Trail. We follow this trail parallel to the Blue Ridge Parkway over the Bluff Mountain summit to Brinegar’s cabin. From there the Cedar Ridge Trail brings us back to our initial starting point. Most of the time the trail moves through wooded well-shaded terrain with the exception of 1-2 hours on the Bluff Mountain trail. There we have wonderful outlooks and views but also full exposure to sun. This hike is for experienced hikers only.
