Description: Let’s get out and enjoy the beautiful fall in NC! This hike is a steady, rigorous climb with some great views throughout. Total out and back hike will be a distance of about 8.7 miles. For GSO members, there will be a carpool leaving Carolina’s Diner at 7:00 a.m. For members who don’t want a long drive for the day, there are usually campsites available if you want to drive there on the day prior. Meet at Longbottom Road Parking Lot, GPS 36.375200, -81.144660. (Stone Mountain State Park, turn left onto Traphill road driving 5.2 miles – turn right onto Longbottom road driving 8.1 miles – parking lot on your left just before the bridge).
