Description: Indian Creek is a beautiful wooded hike with several stream crossings (poles are highly recommended). We will start at the parking lot at the end of Flinchum Road in Danbury NC, just past the Dan River Company kayak and canoe rental and Green Heron Ale House. We will ascend to Hidden and Window Falls and a moderate climb to the picnic area below the visitor’s center parking lot at Hanging Rock. 7.2 miles/+/- 1000 feet [R-18]. Poles are recommended, as are waterproof shoes if you have them (stream crossings are shallow unless we’ve had a lot of recent rain, in which case we would modify the route). For those who would like, an additional 1.5 mile loop around the River Bluff Trail offers a beautiful view of the rock bluffs above the Dan River. Following the hike, and dependent upon whether it is open for business, a stop at the Green Heron is optional. Contact George Crouse for further information.
