Description: This hike is a club favorite. Credit for its Gallic sounding name goes to Vance Barron. He suggested it in jest, and it stuck. Its name tells you exactly what you will be doing on this hike: going around, not across, Wolf Rock. The route is a grossly misshapen lollipop. The stick is the MST section that starts from the backpackers parking lot and intersects with the Wolf Rock trail. From there we will hike the lollipop counterclockwise, returning to the intersection with the stick via Black Jack. This is a moderate, scenic, and varied hike suitable for most hikers with some experience in mountain walking. Buyer’s beware: We will be crossing a couple of streams, which at this time of year, may be above ankle height. Poles are therefore strongly recommended.
